I am wanting to get ash blue and royal palms toms and raise them as pets

I'm not looking for a flock I just want 2 or 3 I would have only gotten one, but my dad and another person said they're very social and they'd want more than just themselves. The guy I asked who runs an article about raising turkeys said 3 is better than 2.. I was thinking I could get a huge glass aqarium for when they're itty bitty. I read that you can use just about anything as a brooder and a keep them warm box, I got the idea for the aquarium in fact cause one person who talked about keeping baby poults put theirs in glass aquariums.


And I want them to be fond of me and love me and think of me as someone that loves the bejesus out of them cause I will!



Can 3 toms get along? Are there any hints and tips you have for encouraging the birds to be extremely friendly and sweet and companionly?


I am planning on raising them to the point of out door readiness and a lil beyond in my bedroom, I have a large room, but I also have a Golden retriever, I know that if given the chance she'd harm them. Would they be safe in the aqarium on a platform higher up than the dog could really get and I'd super vise Calley may at all times around them.

If the toms are young and raised up together it should be fine. If you ever add hens though they might fight over them. Just keep them away from any ladies lol. I have a pet turkey (she is a hen though) given to me by accident. I ordered quail eggs off ebay and for some reason got turkey eggs. Three arrived smashed, 1 failed to develop, 1 died late in incubation and the last one turned into my turkey. I tried to introduce her to a couple buddies I bought for her so she wouldn't be lonely but she always preferred me over them. She followed me all over, and still does. If I had to choose between chickens or turkeys, I probably couldn't. She is a Royal Palm btw. She was raised in a plastic storage container in our house til she was 6 weeks old under a desk lamp with a 100 watt bulb in it.

My dad has two fully matured burbon red heritage hens, and 1 fully mature black turkey the kind engineered to get big and fat for the table. He had two and two but one died he has 7 chicken hens.


the thought was once they're fully ready to go outside, they'd join the chickens and turkeys my dad already has.


So that would be not good two males to 10 hens, even if most of the hens are not the same type??
