I am working on getting a coop before cool weather sets in. The chickens currently are housed in a completely enclosed run with a tarp shading the end with the roosting bars and food/water. I am switching to pellets for bedding due to odor issues. Do I cover the entire floor of the run? How deep? Currently have shavings which are getting cleaned out.

Nice, run sounds big enough. How big is the coop? In general you want around 4 sqft of coop space per bird

As for your other question, I'd do 2-3 inches deep of whatever substrate you use in the run. and maybe go about maybe about 4-6 inches deep in the coop

It says it's good up to 10
If it’s a prefab coop, those things often WAY over estimate the number of birds that can fit in them. It may hold 10 chicks but not necessarily adults. OR!!!! It could be a really nice, well made coop that’s perfectly fine. It all depends. Do you have pictures of it? And/or dimensions?

I'm sure it won't be a permanent coop. It will house mint until summer. They will only be about 8 to 10 months. For 7 week birds I think it will work

cool weather sets in
How "cool"?
Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!
