I bought a crowing hen? XX or XY...?

Even pullets have bumps like that where spurs would grow. That's not a good indicator. But this is definitely a cockerel. Big ol' honking legs and light coloring, and that tail... definitely a male.

I've got quite a few hens with spurs, between half an inch and two inches!

They are both boys, I was gonna say that after the FIRST picture! You can tell BR's by the coloring. Males being whiter, females being blacker.
Sometimes it's hard to tell unless there is the opposite sex to compare to though, and some are less obvious, but in the first pic I was pretty sure that they were BOTH boys and the crowing only confirms it.

Yep, I'm in agreement...both boys. (Both are crowing this AM!) That puts me up to 10 ROOSTERS! Oh well. It's not like I don't like being a sugar momma, but enough is enough with the surprise sex changes. (At least I'm learning, right?)

Thanks for the help!

Both your barred rocks are Roos. I had this problem from a hatchery too... ordered 6 BR pullets and ended up with 4 pullets and 2 roos but I'll say the boys do taste good if that's any consolation.
