I bought a horrible coop..what can I do?

Is there a certain kind of paint to use. Just worrried about it being too toxic for chickens

I'm using a low voc exterior waterbased paint by Behr. Let it dry out well before putting them in it. 2 coats, go heavy, it will help keep out the mites. It's a little cold to have stuff dry out, if you have a garage put it in there with a heater once you've painted it.
