I bought an XL dog house for a duck house

i am amazed at the things people try to give away. i know it's to keep things out of land fills, but after something has served it purpose it needs to go bye-bye.

Ours varies. I have had better luck on Craigslist.

I do like the clean-ability of those plastic duck houses. If my hutch falls apart, I am getting one!

That is one of the main reasons I got it. Scrub it out, fresh bedding and it is sanitized. My wooden goose house is a nightmare to clean out. Uck!

That's what I have now...wood. And particle board at that. Since it was free, it will work for now, but I am watching out for plastic doggie houses and igloos

Freecycle is most definitely a junkyard here in this area of Virginia.

I have an igloo set up in a large run for three cochins and they love it - I didn't put a door on it but did hang a heat lamp so they don't freeze when it drops down below 30 at night. I also have a large doghouse attached to another run with 3 barred rocks. I cut a door in the back for egg retrieval and attached a door to the front thinking they might get cold but they don't. I tried a heat lamp for 2 nights and they partied all night long outside of the house so I took it out. I almost bought a red heat lamp still thinking they needed the warmth and that the red wouldn't bother them but they are quite happy all snuggled up together.

One of these days everyone will be happily living together in the wonderful new chicken house that I have been working on. (my 6 youngest babies are in there right now and I need to work on everyone getting used to each other)
