I bought hens at a auction!

I would not give antibiotics unless there was an illness that needed to be treated. Simply giving an antibiotic b/c the birds are a bit lethargic would be a stab in the dark, imo. If this is OP's first ever birds, she has no reference point for what is a normal activity level compared to being "lethargic".

I went in the pen yesterday a few times feeding and with water a couple of times, then I did my daily cleaning. Everything's fine. I went in to collect my buckets and when I opened the door, the big boy came running at me with his wings spread like he was going to attack me! Do roosters peck you or what? I was really scared. So I shut the door to collect my self for a few minutes.
I went back in and he did it again! This happened 2-3 times! Needless to say, my cleaning supplies stayed over night.
It's time to go get my stuff. Is he going to hurt me when I go in? Exactly what can a rooster do? I've never been around chickens before, I got these thinking it might be easier to learn everything. Now I'm wishing I would have started with chicks. I thought they would be nice pets! I've not got one egg yet. And now my rooster has me too afraid to go in to feed! Please help?

Start a new thread with a title that says something like "aggressive rooster, help needed". Hopefully you will get some good advice there. This is not something I personally have had to deal with, but you can bring a broom with you to the coop and use it to hold him back while you do what you need to without hurting him or you.

Thank you for your reply. I thought I might take a fly scatter with me. I don't want to hurt him, but he is not going to intimidate me like that again! Maybe a broom?!

A broom gives you a nice long reach and hopefully you can just push him aside or he will be nervous/confused and stay back. I don't know how much he would or would t hurt you, but you have to find a way to at least get them food and water safely today.

He was probably sent to the auction because of aggression. I would be butchering it, and wouldn't try to fix it.
