When the snow melts (which right now feels like never) my DH has promised to help me build a coop. I plan to hatch some BOs from my mother's flock but what happens if it is a failed hatch? I solved my problem. Today I ordered some chickens from SandHill Preservation. I am so excited, and they won't even be here until June. I have wanted chickens from them for 3 years.

I ordered 25 chicks in case mine didn't hatch out. Hmmm so now I have 30 that hatched out plus the 25 still coming LOL!

DH is worried that I will have the same results. Of course if half are roos then I will be back to a decent number.

Will they not be there until June because of where you are or the cold, nasty, I couldn't imagine living there in the winter months?

I want to order from Sandhill also, I hear they are one of the best hatcheries..but I want mine before June. I live in Va. not that it's warm here now either...by the way..i plan on visiting Alaska this year.

They have earlier availabity. I just need to get a coop up so I don't overstay my welcome in DHs garage. Did I neglect to mention that I put the order in the mail before telling DH ?

Bird Brain...you are too funny. Tell him to just remember when you all married the words are (if you used them) for better or worse...and he can look at this any way he wants. better for you, worse for him if he doesn't have the whole garage.

I like your perspective. I'll remind him. Yes, we used those words. I also promised to obey him.

Sometimes it is easier to ask forgiveness than permission. Actually we have a running joke. Every time he buys a firearm or scope or anything related to guns, I tell him that I am going to spend an equal amount on chickens. It is time to collect.
