I purchased a small flock of silkies. 1 rooster, 3 hens and 8 chicks. 2 of the hens are with the chicks. Can relocating hens cause them to not lay?? The hen that is not with chicks is not laying and its been 4 days.

When does a hen resume laying after chicks hatch?

I have noticed that my own silkie hen would not lay any eggs until she was done "taking care" of the chicks she hatched out. I also have found that moving chickens to a new area will cause some of them to stop laying for a while. There are other people one here who have much more experience than I have....it's just what I have seen so far.

Man I cant hide anywhere haha.

I used BYC about 5 yrs... before I got pregnant and moved to FL.

I guess I will just wait it out and hope one starts laying soon.

Moving chickens to a new environment usually causes them to stop laying for a while. The non-laying hen plus the two broodies will still lay a clutch and brood again at least once this year. You'll end up with loads of silkies.
