I bought some "welsummers"... are they roos???

At six weeks old? Those are Wellie cockerels. The head markings do not always work to sex them as little chicks. The males usually have darker breast feathers, but on occasion, you'll get a salmon brown breast on a male. Here is a Welsummer pullet around the same age.

How about the little one? (last pic)
I hope they all don't grow up to be roos!!!

I didn't know they had welsummer ducks!?! Very cute!!! hee hee hee... so funny we were all thinking some of the same things.

Yeeeaah, I am gonna say that no matter what breed they are, the 6 week olds look like roos to me. They are sportin' some pretty large red combs for 6 weeks.

Definitely Roosters. I have three in my coop right now. The wellie pullets do not have nearly that amount of comb or color compared to the roos. Just like Speckledhen's photo. And the roos have darker red heads.

Have to agree, both roos. Have 6 Wellies that are 13 wks. old and 4 are roos.

They are a very pretty bird though. One at 8 wks old started crowing and he is a Jim Dandy, and so's his name, now all 4 are and they don't shut up all day.
