So today I was at TSC for food for my menagerie. They had a whole new shipment of adorable chicks. They were allegedly all pullets, so I was interested. The signs said they were Ameraucanas, Rhode Island Reds, Amberlinks, and Red Comets, and Cinnamon Queens (?).
I would have been interested in RIRs and Ameraucanas, but I could not even begin to tell these chicks apart. They had them all together in a brooder. Worse yet, no one in the store (meaning the salespeople) can tell them apart either. They should at least have a picture chart!

Many places that sell chicks have no idea what some are. A few years ago I wanted some Brown Leghorns. I bought some and the tank was marked Brown Leghorn but when the chicks grew out they turned out to be Partridge Rocks (brown egg layers). I did find a breeder and now have my Brown Leghorns.
