FYI--This old timer in my community told me that he always got more pullets when he hatched in the fall. Fertility is supposed to be better in the fall. I hatched 22 in Jan. and all of them were pullets but 6. This spring my roo ratio has been much higher. So do you think there is anything to this? When did you hatch all of these roos, AussieSharon? Could it be the breeds?

Ive been hatching tons of pullets * knock on wood* out of 25 chicks i only hatched 1 cockerel

They have all hatched this Spring. Breeds were 1 hatch of mixed, 1 hatch of Cobb and all the rest have been Welsummers.

Your luck is a lot like ours. Of the 8 silver marans that hatched ALL 8 were roos!

I have the same problem. Can only hatch boys. I have given away some really nice silkie and cochin roos too. But you can't sell them. No one needs boys.

Is it possible that depending on your incubator temps that more cockerals are making it to hatch and the pullets are not? Do you have a lot of eggs that don't make it?
