awwww! im so jealous of you!!! congrats on your lil' peeps! I simply cannot wait until my first babies hatch (if i havent killed them that is:/)

This is killing me!! I have no way of knowing what's going on. I wish Leo (my dog) could call & tell me. And when I get home tonight, I have to take Leo to the vet for his shots. The vet sets up a mobile clinic at Tractor Supply every Thursday, so that makes it a little better. At least I can shop. If the chicks are all hatched, I might have to take him for shots another night.

One little chickie this morning looked like he/she was hitting the eggshell with a sledge hammer. That little pip appeared really fast and was bigger than the others. I could see a little bit of black chick in the crack. I wonder if that's the one making all of the noise. With my luck, I'll fall in love with it, and it will be a roo.

I have to limit my roo numbers, so 4h kids are taking my extras. I will give them some girls too. I want one new roo and 2 or 3 pullets. The rest are going to any 4Her that wants them. Since they are jersey giants, it looks like I might not have enough for everybody that wants them. Oh well, I'll have to do it again next year!

I have a sneaking suspicion that Leo will be getting his shots another day!!! Congrats on what sounds like a great hatch!!! Enjoy the babies!

I hope you have a wonderful hatch!
I had 2 eggs pipped when I left the other day, emergency...left at about 9:00, they had pipped a good 2 hours earlier, arrived home at 9:30 that night, and they were still in the eggs! They did hatch within about 20 minutes of my being home! I missed the longest wait time, but we got to see the first hatch! I hope the same for you...

I can't chance Leo's shots expiring. It would be just my luck that this would be the one time that some brat kid wandered in my yard, harassed the dog and got bit. I have that kind of luck. I would have DH take him, but I know he would never get the insurance papers filled out right. Leo has a small (very inexpensive) policy that covers his shots, frontline, teeth cleaning, heartworm tablets and medical up to $4500 per year.

Besides, the vet is at Tractor Supply. They might have chicks in! However, if the eggs are at a critical moment, I might not be able to pull myself away.

My husband just called to remind me that he gets home before me, and if there are chicks out of the eggs, he will get to see then first.
