When I got home there were 4 chicks out and one pipping. We took the dog in for shots and came back to 5 chicks. There were supposed to be 6 Black Jersey Giant eggs and one little mixed breed that I had expected to be red or buff. Apparently someone got a breeding pen mixed up because so far I have 3 Black Jersey Giants, one buff and a mystery chick.
The last chick that hatched appears a bit smaller and is still attached to his shell, and there appears to be a glob of goop in the shell that the others don't have. Should I worry? He seems active.
Also, I will add pics tomorrow. This computer is too slow to upload pics. I'll have access to a faster one tomorrow. There are two eggs left. When I candled a few days ago one appeared slightly less developed, but I left it in anyway. So I may not get two more chicks, but hopefully one more.
