I battled insomnia for years and just found out last year my insomnia was due to my thyroid level being off. I started thyroid replacement therapy & now sleep 8 hours (usually uninterrupted). I also would be woken up & couldn't get back to sleep.... no more!!! Yours may be a different issue but if you have never had a thyroid test you may want to read up on symptoms of thyroid (hyper & hypo) to see if you have any other "normal for you" symptoms. I had always been this way for as long as I can remember so I didn't think anything was wrong - I just thought that was the way I was. After 1 year of meds for hypothyroidism - I feel great & am more rested & no longer have all those muscle aches I used to keep ( I simply thought it was from hard work & cause I turned 40!!!).
