Hi thank you for offering to help! We are brand new to raising silkie chickens. A family friend had too many chicks and offered 3 to us. We were told the black one was male and the other 2 were female. But after they've grown and doing some research I'm beginning to think the buff one is male and the other 2 are female. Also we aren't sure what their ages are. Any advice would be great. Thanks!

Silkies are harder to sex so I or any body could be wrong.

but they have to be a certain age to sex them.

I'm not sure how old they are. I would guess about 12 weeks or so based on pictures I've seen online.

Would appreciate some thoughts on my Polish. Sold to me from a breeder as a "candy corn"

This girl (I hope!) is very dominant, and has pretty decently red wattles, but her v comb is very pale like her legs. Approximately 12-14 weeks old at this point.
Lovely plumage, I think! But I already have a rooster, and I don't think my small flock could handle two boys.

I'm not seeing the typical saddle feathers or hackle feathers roosters are supposed to have... but this is my first flock and first Polish.

K for silkies they are little young to guess but I will try my best.

For the polish

Overly large and red waddles
I can see slight hackle and saddle feathers
Crest is a little over mohawked for a female
I'm leaning twords male but I could be wrongs.

Black: looks female nice round crest
Buff black: leaning male because of frizzy crest
Buff: looks female? Rounder crest then buff black

Now again I could be wrong they are a little young about 16 weeks is when you can accurately sex silkies
