*heavy sigh* I wish some of my baby roos would start crowing. There's at least 7 of em - a silkie, a turken and 5 meaties - all 6+ weeks old and not a crow to be had. I've seen two of the meaties make a half-hearted attempt at mating (funny sight if there ever was one), so hopefully soon. Then again, maybe they are all intimidated by my adult roo belting crows out.

MY EE Roo was crowing his head off this AM and I started hearing something weird sounding and thought of a mocking bird too. I HAVE to get a chicken Cam into that dang hen house!!! As soon as I go outside they all shut up, it's like I have the plague or something!!! I have 3 weekers in the brooder in the hen house and I HOPE it was not one of them crowing. I do not want any to be roosters.

Especially the one I think is a rooster. Of course he/she is the most purtiest!

Mystery solved. I figured out who the roo is. This morning when I opened up the garage and was talking to the babies, my Wellie (who got his neck picked clean of feathers earlier this week see this thread https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=379106) hopped up on his feeder and tried with all his might to crow. He did it about 3 times. Of course, I was egging him on too. After the third crow I rushed inside to get my phone so I could video it, but by the time I got back out, he was done. So he hopped down from the feeder and went back to peeping. Tomorrow when I open up the garage I'm gonna take my phone with me. Don't want to miss another baby crowing session.

I had suspected he might be the roo, because he is the biggest chicken of the bunch. Who knew I'd be right??

My husband was a little disappointed that he is already hen pecked.
