Hi everyone! One of my hens named Penguin is brooding and I'm allowing her to sit on one egg. Today I tried to candle the egg and see if there was any veins inside. To my surprise, I couldn't see anything when I did it on the side of the egg. When I did it on the bottom, I could see the bottom light up but it was hard to tell if there was anything there since I only used my normal flashlight.

Is this a sign of the egg about to hatch? Or is the egg no good?

Any help much appreciated! :):wee

Normal flashlight cannot see into an egg first boo boo Welcome to Backyard Chickens do you have a cockerel or rooster? how old are they ?

Also, I tried my flashlight with an egg I just got from one of the other hens today and I could see fine with it.

Then order a good candling light and wait where do you live please have you ever ordered from Amazon?
Okay! I will, thank you! and yes I have ordered from Amazon before.
:welcome

Have you candled from the fat end/air cell end of the egg?
Yes, I have, and I cannot really seem to see like the full egg, just like that part and it's hard to see if there is anything in it.
Ahhh if your eggs are colored as in easter egger or olive it is allot tougher
My eggs are brown colored.
