I can't believe it!!

Not fair!! Not fair at all. I went everywhere trying to buy some ducks this year for my pond. Could not find any. TS thought they were getting some in, but they got 900 chickens and NO ducks. I sat there and waited for the delivery, but nope, no ducks. If I was closer to you I'd buy some, however Texas is a bit of a drive from here.

Ok. Where I live, our county has about 3,000 people and it's the third largest county in Texas. So that's a lot of room and not a lot of people. We don't have any kind of farmer's market, wish we did. I'm thinking of keeping 14 of the colored babies to go with the 6 I already have. So that will leave me with 20 ducks. I think that's enough to get eggs and all. Just wish I could figure out there sex. my luck I will end up with 15 drakes, and 5 hens. I love to bake, and I didn't know duck eggs were so good for baking. Definitely have to try that!

We eat the eggs in the winter when I know they are only eating grain. The eggs are delicious. My husband didn't know he was eating duck eggs until I told him.... later...after about the fifth time. He really loved the flavor...

Once spring hits and they are back out eating grass, bugs, mud etc... When the yolk has turned orange again I only bake and use them for meatloaf, stuffed cabbage etc...

That's a lot of ducks!

Best of luck whichever way you decide to go

If you sell some, a care sheet wouldn't be a bad idea

That will stock up your freezer for a good while. I love duck but it's so expensive to get at the grocery store. You are so lucky.

Well, I've found at least ten of them good homes. I printed off the info from feathersite and added a few things for people to get them started. I also made up little baggies of food to get them by until they can get their own. Then I went to the list of good foods and no-no's listed on this site and printed that off on one separate page. I'm hoping that the folks will put it on their fridge so they could have it handy. It's pretty much just family so far and I also told them that if they don't want them, I will take them back. This is definitely very interesting around here right now. Then I have discovered I have a market for chicks here. I need to look into the laws and such about that though. I'm also incubating eggs now!! Don't you just love spring!!
