"nervous" doesn't begin to cover it... "terrified" comes closer!
and there are still so many things I need to get organised and done before then! but the energy to do any of it is sadly missing.

I also feel slightly cheated - I don't get a choice about having him by caesarianon that date (2 weeks before due date), sort of feels like I'm missing out on a bit of the pregnancy experience!

when are you due?

we need a list!

I am do the 15th of July. Please don't feel cheated it isn't really the moment of birth but the moment when you are suddenly aware that your now a mother. It is an awesome experience and the "high" or euphoria in that moment is indescribable. (Can I get an amen from all you who have been there before).

EBWY That feeling that you want get it all done or organized is going to be there even if you weren't so tired. When we first get pregnant we always think we will get it all done> i.e. paint the babies room or some other project that we think can get done in truth we get done just what we need to get done before the baby is born. I am also so tired all the time.

It also never fails that no matter how much cleaning I get done when I get home from the hospital it is a mess again.(This is even worse after the 1st time because then the older kids seem to mess everything up again before I get home. I have never had a family to help me as I live far from them.
Right now I am going to have to find a helper from somewhere to leave my other kids with. My two oldest at home are going to OK for the summer leaving my younger two at home ages 4.5 and 5. OK OK OK no no more stressing.

I think what I mean is do what you can then relax and enjoy

Parenthood is the best roller coaster ride ever invented. You know how it feels right before you get in the roller coaster car? You know when your next in line...... ? that's where we are at right now, delivery is the the slow stressful ride to the top, the rest of the ride is the thrill.

It must be a great ride because this is my 8th time around.

Look how hard Redhen and Livinzoo are working for their chance to ride.

So with that rant out of the way, EBWY , climb on board and strap in, hold on tight, it's our turn.....

I know, I know... I think I'm just contrary-natured. I know full well how lucky I am to be in this position, having been told I'm infertile. Ha! proved them wrong, I guess! I'd just started to come to terms with that and I got pregnant :-s

It's just my anxiety over-riding my sense, I think. I've had nightmares about being sliced open all my life and now here I am, organising to go and have that done to me! eeeek!

I think I have most stuff I'll need, at least for the first month or so

oh! does anyone have a recommendation on how to deal with expressed breast milk for the baby? do I need to buy a bottle warmer or is there a cheaper, more convenient way, or do I just let it sit out of the fridge for a while to get up to room temperature?
We're keen for his daddy to get a chance at feeding him too, so I'll need to know!

things I feel I need to get done REALLY are things that need to be done - like cleaning all the second-hand stuff I've been given because it's been in storage in my cousin's attick for nearly 2 years! Today I need to clean the stroller, the baby bath, and if I have time, the toys (baby gyms are the most urgent, the rest aren't suitable until he's 3 months but I'd rather get them done while it's still sunny so they can dry easier than they will in october!).

I also have to wash the cloth nappies (diapers to you) 3 times before use, according to the packaging...

and I HAVE to buy a car seat, they won't let me out of hospital with him unless I have one.

one more thing......remember that sweet little face when they turn 4 and find the ink pen or crayon and draw all over the kitchen, hallways, sisters new doll house, toys, and your closet door........yup, almost lost it yesterday!
Guess it was time to touch up paint anyways. My daughter drew our family on the hallway of the stairs and it is so cure we haven't painted over it yet, but she did get in trouble.

Ok, this is THE BEST POST EVER!! and sounds like my kids!! LOL I love it!!!!! I had to read it to my husband, and we were both laughing because we have sooooo been there!!!

We have 4 boys, 1 girl. Our youngest will be turning 2 in July.

if you know hours ahead of time you will use frozen milk pull it out and put in the fridge.....when ready for it just put it in a hot container of water....no need for a warmer....or you can just pump and put in the fridge to use and heat later that day. I would pump at night and leave one bottle on the counter for DH to do a night feeding before he went to bed.
Fresh milk is good left at room temperature for 4-6 hours depending on how hot it is...... but if you don't need it put in fridge after 4 hours.
fresh milk is good in fridge for 3-5 days
freezer for 4-6 months
also trash what is left from a feeding.....you don't want to reuse it after giving to baby.

If you have time pump in the morning to get a good store of milk....that is when you have the most.

yeah, I hear you.....I am on #5 and it has happened so many times I don't get to tore up anymore. One thing I just can't get over is when the one in diapers is supposed to be taking a nap.....they make poo and decide play with it.....yup, paint the walls, cook with it in the little toy kitchen, you name it!!!! I called my husband crying a couple times the past years because I was so upset and had to clean it.

OMG are our kids related?! My DD used to do that!! We'd put her down for a nap, she'd poo, rip the diaper off, smear it on the walls, the crib, herself....and I suspect maybe had ate it a time or two...

I'm dealing with expressing with this little guy and it is both a blessing and a curse! Thanks to him being in the NICU for the first 6 days of his life and having to be bottle fed, he simply refuses to nurse. I've worked with lactation consultants too... no luck.

My advice (unless you want to have to pump ALL the time like I do) would be to wait several weeks, at least, before you start offering your little guy a bottle. One of the LCs I worked with said baby boys are notorious for being lazy about breastfeeding once they realize how much easier bottle feeding is. Typical male behavior, huh?

Anyway, this page has info that can help you with expressing/storage... http://www.breastfeeding-mom.com/express-breast-milk.html

This is the pump I'm using now, after renting a hospital grade Ameda pump for the first month. It works GREAT, love it! And I got a used one for $56 (including shipping) off ebay.
