I went shopping tonight and bought diapers, pacifiers, baby wash/shampoo, baby lotion, a couple more baby sleepers, another baby outfit... and lots of maxipads. Gosh, I'm dreading that part soooooooooooooo much!

how odd, i did too..except for the last part..i had the family with me and i am so weird about that.
i got some baby magic powder, dreft, newborn diapers and sleepers, receiving blankets and burp cloths, a huge tub of desitin and a bunch of other stuff..
then i made an ass of myself in the middle of walmart. i was looking at the shirts they have that to me, look like maternity shirts..and it dawned on me how tired i am of these shirts and i started crying!
my husband thought it was hilarious though and consoled me somehow, and i was fine. have to love those pregnancy hormones

I've been getting very disheartened, I can't find maternity clothes to fit my size.
I know I'm very large ( not sure what size I am in american sizes, I think I'm 2XL but no way to know) but you'd think there would be some available without spending a fortune! I'm afraid I lost my temper the other week and wrote a very stinky email to mothercare (the best known baby & maternity shop in the UK) about their size prejudice. Ok so they think they won't sell many so don't want them in their shops, but they could have them in their warehouse available to order via website. It's like they don't think larger women get pregnant, or more that no-one would fancy us enough to get us pregnant!
Obviously that isn't true, because here I am!
Buying normal clothes in a larger size is ok for one or two sizes but after a while the clothes are just tooooo big everywhere else, and look even huger than they are. Not to mention that once you start having to buy 2 or 3 sizes larger than me pre-pregnancy the costs are getting enormous and the shops are getting even rarer... So far I've been managing in my normal clothes (because I used to be bigger) but I can see the time coming that I won't be able to do that.
And the reason I wear the size I do is that I have very large breasts. I know I've seen some women saying they are huge now that they've started swelling, well I was bigger than any of them (that I've seen mention sizes) before mine started swelling. When you're a 38J (again, UK sizes, don't know what I'd be over there) to start with (and at 19 weeks even my 40J bra is starting to get a bit close fitting) and large enough that it's hard to find a bra to fit anyway, what hope is there of getting a maternity bra even bigger? not to mention getting one with droppable cups to breast feed the baby?
I'm about to give up. Maybe I should just buy a tent to wear and a hammock to put my boobs in

I can relate and I completely understand. In fact, I wrote a very similar rant a while ago in another thread. I have found ONE maternity store that carries plus size clothes, but the selection is small and the clothes are very expensive. There is another store that has plus size clothes but you have to order them... no way am I going to do that, I HAVE to try clothes before buying them. I can't imagine the hassle of ordering and having to return the stuff that didn't fit or didn't fit right. So, I've been making do with very little. I have a few real maternity pieces that I'll wear out of the house but the other stuff is regular stuff I bought a couple of sizes larger, and I wear those pieces around here because I feel so frumpy in them.
If I knew anything about clothes making I would start my very own plus size maternity line!

i am there with you! there are no maternity clothes in my size at all..i have had to buy stuff that is several sizes too big and it still fits all wrong.
one thing that i have been buying are those "babydoll" shirts that they have..they look like maternity shirts with lots of room in the stomach area. that and stretchy t shirts.

Oh yeah, and about those bras. I'm large but, bless your heart, not as large as you, ebwy! I'm normally a 38DD and I'm filling out my bras to the max now, so I went up to a 40DDD for the nursing bras I bought. Sure hope they'll work once my milk comes in!

your post reminded me of a couple of things I needed to get. 1) a diaper bag 2) burp cloths. I use cloth diapers as burp cloths and since I've been using my old ones as dust rags, I figure I'd better get some new ones.
We need to do a checklist of baby necessities!

your post reminded me of a couple of things I needed to get. 1) a diaper bag 2) burp cloths. I use cloth diapers as burp cloths and since I've been using my old ones as dust rags, I figure I'd better get some new ones.

And just thought id share i felt the most flutters last night i have ever felt this far! i was excited, okay im done rambling!

Im not 100 percent sure if i am or not i live in GA i have no family or barely any friends here but i am going back home in may to visit so my mom might have something planed.. I think i am going to be afraid to cut them!
