I can't believe this happened..

I'm so sorry! It's awful when it's an inside killer.
when it's a wild animal it's easier to coope with.
But you should "train" your dog to be around them. I'll look for a thread where i've seen advice and post it here for you.
But the best advice i hear dwas to teach the dog that the chickens are part of it's family, its "pack". I've heard of dog's chasing wild animals such as coyotes away when they hunted the chickens, so it can be changed.
Once again, i am sorry for this.

Thank you everyone! My Husband told me AFTER the kids went to bed that he saw Spot 'Stealth-like' grab and shake her. He checked her body for punctures before he burned her ( he was burning brush anyway) But he being on the tractor and not all too near couldn't do anything about it. I was thinking at the time I gave her to my husband that he was just speaking from experience... He didn't want to cause a scene with the kids around. My daughter actually said later that night that it was ok because she was the mean chicken!!

We decided that we are just going to keep them seperate from now on. It will be safer and best for everyone that way. I love my dog and I dont want to have to be faced with rehoming him if he were to get 'stealthy' again. We are going to have the chickens and the dog take turns in the yard. We are all feeling ok about it now. We still have four chickens, and we will be getting a few more when it starts to warm up!
