I can't even get an interview... NEW TWIST Post #107 !!!!

I ran a bookstore for a while. My XH and I started it. We went out of business when we split up. It was pretty kewl - but didn't make us much. Still, a really nice way to spend time.

Locked hearts, did you ever get an interview, and if so how did it go?

I have seen that McDonalds is hiring, and I thought to myself "If I didn't have a job, I wouldn't be above having one there!" At least it would be JOB!!!!

I recently read a report that said that a business tax is what is causing businesses to move their work overseas.

I also saw an interview with a big business head (can't recall which business, but a big one) who said that if the US wants to keep manufacturing here they have to give the big companies a tax break.

I can only leave to the imagination of my gentle reader, the description of my reaction - especially the many and diverse anglo-saxon words employed.

If a company cannot make money manufacturing products here, I guess they have to move to where they can make money. No one that I can think of is in business to lose money.

I'm sorry but I do not understand all the "bleeding heart" stuff for businesses. I, too, have a small business and the taxes on it are not killing me. While I don't LIKE paying taxes, I still do it. But when companies the size of GE pay less in taxes than *I* do, I don't think the problem is an inability to make money here. I think it is plain and simple greed.

I still have not gotten an interview anywhere. I am continually looking and I saw the post about McDonalds, there are 4 within a few miles of me, so I plan to apply online, as was suggested by the manager of one, hoping to get placed at one near me.
This week alone I have put in 15 applications.
