My chicken is 7 months old, she was labled as a California Tan at TSC.

For the past 4 to 5 days she has not laid and has been having a strange behavior. 3 days ago I brought her inside thinking she was egg bound as there has been no eggs from her, she has her tail down, comb flopped over and walking very slow, not eating but drinking. 3 days ago I gave her an epsom salt soak and cooked egg with shells which she did eat. The past 2 days she just stands with her wings down and out and open mouth breathing, she is not gasping or stretching her neck out, I gave her some ACV and she did drink that and shortly ate some pellets but not very much. She is pooping and its soild not watery but a dark green. Her crop is small and soft, I can feel the grit inside. She is not wheezing and does not have any discharge from her mouth, nose or eyes. She is standing like she is hot but inside the house is 70 degrees and cool. 20251106_062454.jpg

Is she as blue as her comb appears in her pictures? Is her abdomen distended/watery feeling? I'd guess liver or heart failure based on her general appearance. If it is water belly, you can try to drain it, or take her to a vet (safest thing to do). Even with draining, though. It's just buying time.
Sadly, it doesn't look good.

I forgot to add that her comb is a dark red and she has black skin, im guessing from what she is mixed with and her under belly feels normally, no swelling or bulging or sqiushiness.

Ok, so that makes a difference. However, still seems like a really dark comb. Not black like the Ayam cemani or Swedish. I see the black face and legs, though. The wings out does imply overheating and the drooping comb and color lean towards heart issues. No other birds in the flock are affected? Are they free range or in a small area?

I have 3 other chickens that are in a 10x10 run during the night but free range during the day. Everyone else is just fine, laying, eating, drinking.

she looks like a zombie chicken her comb has some red in it still though

Poor baby looks like she is not feeling well at all.:(
Hopefully, you can get her feeling better soon!

I am new here and not ready to just give advice all willy nilly.
However, one of my pullets stood in a similar stance with wings out and panted the first time she had some sort of backup with eggs.

If this were my chicken I would give a pill of calcium citrate with vitamin D to help her get anything out that might be in there. I have no idea if your chicken is suffering from a similar issue but I don't think trying calcium citrate would hurt while you figure out what is wrong.

That first time, my chicken was looking awful and panting like yours, she laid a soft shell in the run after I gave her a calcium/D pill but still felt awful so I brought her in and she laid another one! She felt better right after that, ate, slept, and then wanted back out with her friends badly!

Just the other day I found her with her tail down and cushion up like that again, wings out occasionally, but not yet panting. I administered the calcium/d immediately. When I brought her inside to her crate she laid a soft shell egg within the hour and was still stressed and hurting until she laid another one within a couple hours. She is getting a pill a day for 7 days now. IDK why this happens to her but out is better than in and her relief is immediate when those come out.

I hope you can get your pretty girl feeling better!
