My ducks have been happy with just a nice sized rectangle. They like having a swim pan, and a good base of compost and straw for the pen so they can forage for worms and bugs.

Gotta agree with Amiga on this one. I don't have any ducks but just got chickens and have large gardens, wine grapes, etc. I try to always design any project or system to be the most efficient when it comes to operating and maintaining or else even relatively fun things become chores - that's true of anything if you think about it. I'd step back and revisit the "duck" project you have and think of how to minimize the work while getting the job done, and be sure to think outside the box such as possibly building a new housing structure and tearing down the old if necessary. Try to think of everything and anything to optimize the chores and I'd bet money you'd enjoy them as much as you originally did.I think if you can work on simplifying the tasks, that may help. Time with them just for fun can help, and a backup for duck dooty, too.

Ducks need to bathe their heads. If they can't they get an eye disease that can lead to permanent blindness. How many ducks do you have? Sometimes you need to cut back a little to make it manageable. I know I feel overwhelmed with my chickens sometimes, but I have 68 so of course I'm going to feel like I'm always cleaning up after them.
I love the idea Amiga posted for the water! You could also put a cement block halfway covering the bowl to keep them from getting in it to bathe.
And maybe ducks just aren't for you. Don't feel bad about it. I had geese and they were beautiful and I loved them, but they were messy and obnoxious. I sold them when I figured out they weren't a good match for me and got my ducks which fit me much better.
5 ducks. I got a little overwhelmed when i found out that half of my ducks got bumble foot. It is worse when im trying to treat them. They squirm and squawk their loudest. And their temporary cage adds to the stress. It like 2 ft off the ground and i have to carry them to the pen. One gets so scared when i try to get ot that it runs to the point where its tripping. So once i get this nee pen built and a better schedule, every should be fineHow many ducks do you have? Sometimes you need to cut back a little to make it manageable. No wonder you are stressed. That's more work than many/most have to deal with. Hang in there, it will be better when they are better.I got a little overwhelmed when i found out that half of my ducks got bumble foot.
