from Washington State!!! Hope your ankle gets better!!

Well, I didn't get that many, but last year we started with four Buff Orpingtons and two Black Australorps. Two weeks later we added a BA, four Barred Rocks, and two Buff Brahmas. Two weeks later we added four Rhode Island Reds. A week later we added three more BAs. Two weeks later we added two Golden Comets, and after a week two more Buff Brahmas.

I work at a library, and the day that I bought those last two Buff Brahmas, the Head Start kids came to visit. I was able to show them a friend's year-old BR plus my chicks at all these different stages of development. The kids were mesmerized!!

We were planning to get 36 more this spring to make it five dozen, but one BO was eaten

by a hawk about two months ago, so we'll have to get 37!

We homeschool, and during the first week that we had the chicks, we got very little done other than oogling those fuzzy little clowns.

So anyway, yeah, they are addictive!

Thanks everyone!!! I picked up 10 chicks that hatched from my eggs on Sunday! This morning at 7:30 my post office called and said my chicks are here!! I got in 27 healthy happy chicks! I got the free exotic chick and they sent me an extra white leghorn pullet! I talked to the feed store in my little town and he is going to take 15 of my 25 pullets. I would love to keep them all. That was my plan when I bought them. But I am going to lighten up for now for my dh! He is having to help me a lot with my chickens because of my ankle! The guy at the feed store wanted chicks because people kept asking him if he was going to get any. He tried to order but the wait was too long. So there will be some happy farmers in town! I am keeping the 3 americanas, 5 pearl white leghorns, 1 partridge coghin, 1 black cochin, 2 black sexlinks! Yeah! I am so happy to have these chicks! The chicks I picked up that hatched from my eggs are black copper marans! The two cochins are for my kids. They are such beautiful birds that are so friendly! I can't wait for my kids to get home they are going to be so happy!

I am caught up in the new chick-incubator craze.
Sorry you hurt your ankle, and had to fess up to how many chicks you have.
Give your DH a big hug and thank him for being there to help you, he'll come around.
