Hey, there...I see you have Orpingtons. I have a couple of buff pullets now. I may add to those. When will you sell your hatching eggs?

I used to have Welsummers. They are pretty and lay lovely eggs. I haven't seen L&SChickens stock. I'm sure they are pretty though!

As far as when I am going to have some Orpingtons available depends on when they get themselves together and start up their laying machines again. lol! They are all starting to lay again, so I'm thinking in another month or so. Just let me know and I'd be happy to put you on my reserve list.

Thanks! I have offered to incubate at my kids' school as a teaching project. I will have to be able to get all of the eggs I want all at the same time, so I'll have to wrap my mind around a schedule and plan from there.

Right now, I am so excited I can't think straight...LOL.

THREE! Wow!

I really thought I'd be stronger, and just wait on my hens to go broody, BUT I just wanted to be sure that I was prepared to hatch when L&SChickens contacts me with hatching eggs.

HEY - what about hatching eggs I collect from my hens (yes, they are fertile...hehe). I know, I know, I should have already educated myself on this... can I save up eggs for several days, and then set them? I don't refrigerate my eggs (would it matter if I did?) so that would work, right?

Then, I'd just have to buy eggs at the store to eat & cook with...LOL.

Yes, you can save up several days and set them. Each day toward the tenth lowers viability, so 5-6 days worth is best.

I've hatch cold eggs before but yes, it also hurts viability.

Your fresh eggs will be much more reliable than shipped eggs.

1602n are great incubators. the 1611 works great. you might want to look into a fan, i put fans in mine and they help keep the temps stable. eggs in refrigerator cut down on hatchability. store between 50-60 degrees. hatching your own eggs is the ultimate fun. Good luck!!!!
