Ugh, I think the water pump went on my Escape today. I barely got home with an over heating engine. I saw it was leaking when I left work.

I already called my boss telling him I don't think I can get it out of the driveway tomorrow. BTW- I start work at 0515. Yeah right.

Crap, how much is this going to cost me? Seems like every repair is a minimum of $500 anymore. Water pump replacement- can anyone tell me what to expect for the job? I think I have towing insurance and will call tomorrow. I don't want to crack the block or head on it so I don't want to drive it.

Plus it is going to be 5 + F tonight, very cold.

Even worse I was supposed to go pick up half a butchered pig after work tomorrow AND my NEW 7 foot back blade for my tractor. Winter waits for no one here in VT.

I hate when cars do this... MY hubby who worked as an auto mec. until he got his new job in a diffrent field says your about right on the 500.00 price tag . But... thats here in michigan soooo it could be less or more sorry!!!!!

Yikes, are you sure it's leaking from the water pump?

I hate paying anybody to wrench on anything. A $30 pump from Autozone and a couple hours in the driveway suits me just fine...

Do you know anybody handy with a wrench?

Oh man, that really stinks. How much snow did you get down there yesterday? Winter in Vermont really does not wait for anyone, I hope my pheasants will survive, better winter proof it this weekend.

It could be a number of things other than the water pump. CHeck it out before you panic and you could find it is a simple fix.

New water pump for an escape is around $67 at advance auto parts.

$400 is a lot of labor to pay to have it put on.
