I could use some reassuring advice...

Well, I figured I would leave broody and egg alone and just wait and see. I heard some little chirps about 36hrs ago and figured the last egg hap probably piped. I just checked this morning and sadly it did pip, but nothing more. The chick is not moving or making a sound.
All of them died, and the worst part is I don't understand why even under broody they never got past the pip.
Anyway, thank you all for your support and advice. Having you here made this a little easier.

P.S.
After posting early this morning, I did something crazy and risky. I hadn't taken the decoy eggs out from under her, and I knew that when some of those lost chicks did pip, she had to have heard their little peeps.... So I ran to town and purchased three little sapphire gems and snuck 'em under her while it was still dark in her kennel. I watched them after a few hours, and they started poking out of her feathers and then disappearing back under her. Kept a close eye on them, and finally just a bit ago she stood up and sent them to eat and drink. Broody is doing really well with them and they cozy up to her chest when they want back under, and she gladly gets up so they can. I can't believe it worked, and although it's not how I wanted chicks this time around, I'm happy that broody is happy again. She was meant to be a mother!

That's great news! :wee

Most broody hens will adopt new chicks, particularly if they have been already sitting 3 weeks and you put them in while it is dark. Sometimes, if I don't have a good place to isolate a broody hen to, I only give her decoy eggs, and then slip in chicks after she has been sitting 18 days.

Job well done. Enjoy watching mom with her chicks. It really is my favorite thing to see in all of chicken keeping.
