i have 16 chicks in the brooder right now...
and 12 eggs my silkie is sitting on...
and yet i went to the feed store i saw a GLW which i've been wanting...
and grabbed that too...
omg..
another chick..
17 chicks in the brooder now..
i need a bigger coop...

I don't blame you for wanting that GLW. We got our 1st 2 GLW chicks in Feb, and they are growing to be gorgeous.


They were 2 or 3 days old when we brought them home:

We just picked up a GLW yesterday as well! She's so fluffy, and ROUND in the hiney and I can't wait to see her shape as she grows.

Of COURSE! How could you resist? I'm lucky if I make it out of the feed store without at least one chick.

You folks are lucky! Here in New Hampshire there is a 12 chick minimum. That really takes the spontinaiety out of it. No fun. I see all those cute little fuzz balls at thr store and would come home with one here and there if I could. Maybe it's a good thing I can't, I'd be over run!!!

Great choice! I got one GLW with my last batch of SLW's and was stunned at what a beauty she turned out to be - those deep red feathers with the violet lacing reflecting off sunlight - breathtaking! So I made sure I got two more GLW's in this year's order.

GLW's are wicked layers, too!
