i would just prefer to have a couple. so they have comfortable room to move about in their home.

Metzers doesn't put in extra ducklings for small orders.. I asked when I ordered in may 2008.. They only put in extras when you order 10 or more..

Yep, they figure you order a small order and pay the extra small order fee because you ordered the number you actually wanted.

They were from McMurray tho..... Anyway we went out and got her a friend almost immediately, who turned out to be a Rouen (she's a mallard), but that's another story. Other 2 we ordered from Metzer and they were just fine on arrival. They had put a heater in the box and a small trough of Grow Gel. I was really impressed. In addition, when I had a problem with one the girls being too aggressive to the others, I emailed John Metzer and he answered right back with excellent advice that worked like a charm. Next time I will be sure and order 3 tho, just in case.

Since purchase price is probably less than shipping if I were you I would order two female and one male. The ability to make a small order and to have the ducklings sexed is just incredible. Take advantage of it!

I ordered 15 ducks and 4 geese for the march 28th ship date. 5 golden layers, 5 welsh harlequins and 5 blue sweedish. The geese are 4 buff geese. This is my first waterfowl order.
