I do NOT like cornish x's.....

I was thinking their feathering was kinda skimpy!

They seem to be growing faster than their skin.

I'm wondering, even with free ranging and slower growth, if they will have that crouching walk that I've seen on the CX when they are fully mature. Those crouching birds move so slowly and it almost looks painful.

That's not good news....

These chicks of mine have to run down a ramp to get to water and run back up a steep ramp to get to food, then get to free range all over a slight incline. I'm wondering if these added leg exercises won't develop better bone strength....I'm sure hoping!

The white cornish X's are messy and get in the way as far as I am concerned. But, they are absolutely delicious when you get them in the pot. I won't raise them again until I get a freezer though. Also, mine got sick a lot. They don't seem to do so good in the heat. But, the ones I had were docile and gentle. They were mixed in with normal yard birds though and made a stinky mess for the others to live in. I had to clean constantly for fear that all the fecal matter would make the others sick. Don't like them.

A little education, and it's implementation will go a long way to indear them . Mine are a joy to me , they provide not only meat for our table, but months of free TIME to enjoy my family.

I think it depends how long you try to keep them. Mine are over 8 weeks now and the largest are starting the crouching walk as well. It's going to be tight right to the finish line for us, as we aren't planning to process them till the 15th!

Our Cornish X were also very gentle, we have a REALLY big coop and run, and they always have feed, but they also are the only birds we have that will let you pick them up. Perhaps it's because they're so fat they can't run fast enough...

I think they only get grouchy if they're really closed quarters. When I picked out my chicks, I was looking for the biggest ones and the people at the feed store said they were getting mean because there were too many. Mine are very docile too. They don't run much either.
