I got 7 chicks three days ago and the first 6 are fine and healthy but the last one was given to me for free because she’s a runt. At first she wasn’t eating until yesterday she was fine and moving around but now she can’t walk and won’t eat or drink water this has been on and off since I got them and I don’t know what to do with her

Wet some feed in sugar water. Just a little bit of sugar in warm water. Put it to her mouth and when she peeps, put some in. Do this for a couple of days. See if that helps. We had to do that to a few of ours.

Runts dont always make it because they're weaker. Try to drip water through her beak from your fingers. They dont need much to eat the first couple days. Make sure its warm enough too. Runts are very difficult.

Okay thanks I also noticed she keeps falling forward is there anything I can do for that?

I’ve tried sugar water but I never thought to put any in the food I’ll try that too thanks! But she keeps falling forward is there’s way to fix that?

Do you have a heater? The first time I got chicks I didnt know that we needed a heater and 1 chick was just sleeping standing up with her head down. We got a heater and then she was ok.

I’ve had quite a few runts over the years up and I find that the best way to help them is body contact. It sounds cheesy and all but holding them against warm skin must create some comfort for them. Good luck :)

The falling forward is a sign of weakness and they also fall forward when going to sleep. If the chick is past three days, soak the kibble food in warm water and try to feed it that way. Otherwise keep it warm at least to 95 and offer a cool spot to go to. Theres not much to do after that. I know it sounds callous but it happens if they're just too weak. I do hope it all turns out for the good for you and the chick.

One of my three speckled sussex chicks was a runt. She couldn't stand without falling over. She was too busy laying down to eat or drink and seemed very confused! She only needed a tiny bit of help (beak dipped in water, pecking food with my finger). We were really worried she wouldn't make it passed the first night, but she did! She finally got the hang of eating and drinking after a couple days. Once a week passed she was just as happy as the others!
Your's sound weeker than mine though.
I wish you Good luck!
