My general rule is as long as the animal is eating, drinking, and can pass waste material without seeming to be in a lot of pain, then I'm willing to ride it out. However you also have to factor in time. Are you able to sleep through the night or do you have to check on her every few hours? Because the second wouldn't be sustainable for very long.
