How come people can accept chicken behavior, cat behavior, and pretty much any other domestic/wild animal, etc and for the most part accept/manage it? BUT when it comes to dog behavior they are somehow supposed to "know what is expected of them" and react as a reasonable human would and if they don't we try and take short cuts to correct this behavior with extreme measures such as shock collars.
Don't people know that dogs aren't equivalent to TVs and cannot be controlled with a remote??
Is it the alure of the illusion of the "quick fix?" Have too many people been deluded by watching old Lassie movies and reruns of saving Timmy from the well?? Maybe Rin Tin Tin, as well?
Someone please enlighten me, because I don't get it.
kthnx.
