I don't get it

I noticed that it depends sometimes on the time of day I post - If you have a post that goes un-noticed you can always give it alittle "bump " just post a reply to your own post - this way it keeps it pretty current and more people will have a chance to see it.

hope that makes sense

Welcome to the BYC Forum!

It can seem sometimes like your posts are being ignored, but rest assured that they do get noticed and read. BUT, this is not a chat room, but a forum - it's not 'instant' communication. It can take a little while for people to see your new thread and start to respond. Also, it may be that people who read your thread don't really have any thing to say in response, so they don't post back.

Many 'newbie' questions can be answered by using the Search feature which is at the blue bar at the top of every forum page just under the header that says BackYardChickens Forum.

Also, there are links at the very tippy top of the screen for BYC Home. You can find TONS of information there on all topics chicken-related, from coop information and pics, to incubation and chick raising questions, etc. The 'Coop Designs' link and the 'Learning Center' links can be good places to start.

Once you have some good basic knowledge under your belt, then you can start to ask questions that are more specific and you'll get quicker and more helpful answers. Frankly, often vague 'newbie' questions don't get quick responses because it's tiring to answer the same old thing over and over again when if the person just took 15 minutes to either search or read the BYC pages they would get answers a lot quicker all on their own - OR at least would have something a bit different to ask as it regarded their own particular situation.

Again welcome - it's a fun and friendly place to hang out and talk chickens!!

Why don't you include a little bit of info about yourself and your chickens.

I'm not sure why this is so URGENT - have you got chickens in your home and you need to build a coop tomorrow? Please be more specific, URGENT means there is danger of some kind, someone is HURT - a chicken needs MEDICAL attention... etc....

Urgent is not really for someone asking what the best flooring is, or what the best fencing is.....

Folks get slightly annoyed when clicking on an URGENT post and finding out they've wasted their time!

The other thing I do when something is not replied to in the forum (which is RARE) is to go to the chat room. I ask folks there...and I usually get some help.

Check it out!

In addition, if you make posts that always say please read, or urgent, many people may start to ignore your posts if they are not truly urgent. Like boy who cried wolf syndrome.
