I don't have an incubator, but hope to hatch a couple ducklings.

What

about setting the thermometer on a lego? I think that would be the right height. Or something similar
Oh, good idea shall get one out!
I used a Govee thermometer and the mercury thermometer. The govee was pretty accurate

I think my aquarium thermometer is quite accurate, and so are the digital ones. Really working on getting the incubator warmer, it can't seem to keep heat in well, ambient temp have been really consistent of 70°F at night windows upstairs (incubator is in the basement) are cracked open outside gets to into the high 50's lately.

Are you using the styrofoam cover for the incubator?

Any luck getting the temperature up?

It's doing much better today. When I got up it was at 100.4 °F I turned the temp setting down 2 and shouldn't have, but it's scary when the temp is at 100 for me. Have turned it up by 1 again seeing what's a good range. Trying to get a steady 99.5°F.
Day 4 eek, I am thinking day 8 is when I will candle the eggs. Might do a quick candle on one egg on day five but not sure.

That first candling will be a bit nerve wracking as we will find out if there's any development.🤞

Temps can't stay stable! 😤 I wonder of the incubator thermometer not getting correct readings is the problem, as it thinks it's at the right temp? And therefore doesn't heat up? Should I try unplugging it a quick moment? So frustrated it can't keep stable, unless the thermometers are all off on readings. This isn't good for the development of the eggs😥 .

Ambient temps (temps of the room its in) dropped down to the high 60s (F) I will possibly candle the eggs tomorrow as that'll be "day 5".

Edited: Didn't proof read, grammar.

I’m not sure. How much is it fluctuating?

It's staying in the 98.8 range. But is set to 38.4°C which would keep it warm enough for a while at least. I recorded temps before bed last night at 1:00 AM the incubator was at 99.5 °F I think ambient temps were still in the 70s then. The room is colder then it has been being 68°F near the incubator and 70 more near a window.
Outside of the incubator there's 2 acu-rite thermometer and hygrometers in different parts of the room.

Thinking of moving it to another room. But there's not much of a better safer place then it's current one. Checking temps in the incubator.

The incubator itself is saying it's at 38.4°C. And occasionally goes to 38.3°F but starts heating up. Currently the thermometer from the incubator is not touching or close to eggs. I believe the fan is working as I can hear and feel it. Hoping as the house warms up again it will get back to ideal temps.
