I have a year old (black) Ameracauana (sp?). I just noticed something today... In front of her feet (belly), there is this bone sticking out. There is only skin there. No feathers. I can feel the bone perfactly. This is really freaking me out. Help is appreciated! Thank you so much in advance!

This sounds like your Ameraucana's breast bone. If it is sticking out a lot she sounds like she is skinny. Are there any other symptoms?

You can't really notice it until you pick her up or pet her stomach. There is no feathers there. Just skin.

She's not broody.

Sounds like her breast bone.. My polish has a really noticeable one, but he has some type of failure to thrive.. He eats a lot, but doesn't gain a whole lot of weight. Still very happy, and I feed him freely.

Have you de-wormed your flock? Worms can cause weight loss. I did deworm mine, and still the same issue..

I'm new to chickens... We haven't looked into the worm thing... We have to do that.
