I don't know what this is

about a month ago I found a small polish chicken. We brought it home and my rooster was being mean but I thought we could teach them to be nice to each other. I've have it for one month and I don't know what breed it is and how old because I found it on the side of the road. It doesent crow or lay eggs. I think it might just be young but I don't know how to tell if it's bantam or not. I don't think it's grown over the month I've had but I might just be paranoid. My rooster is being mean to it. Today he actually drew blood. How can i tell if it's a bantam because I don't know how old it is? How do I know if it's a boy or girl. And should I keep it if my rooster is being mean to it. Every know and then my hens peck at it but not very often. And this chicken is skittish and run and hides when the rooster comes around.

What a pretty little white crested polish !usually you can tell the sex by the tail. the females have a shorter tail the males have a longer tail .it's a pretty little bird why don't you build its own little cage and let it Be by itself? if everybody else is being mean to it that may be why it's not laying. it may be very stressed from being attacked so It can't relax and lay.

They are small by nature even if considered standard size. The crest makes it hard for them to see danger coming.

What breed is your rooster? If he is quite large she is likely to be extra skittish.

I agree a home of her own and perhaps in the future a few more of her kind for company.

So do i make it's own little cage untill it gets bigger. (If it gets bigger) Does it look like a bantam.

My rooster is a polish but he is also a little smaller than a normal rooster. So does the hen look full grown or will it grow bigger do you think

It looks like a Polish , and they come in bantam as well as standard. The standards are tall like other chickens, but less robust and teardrop shaped. Looks like a hen, since roosters have slightly different hairdos. More like dreds. Houdans look similar but have different color legs . My Polish have blue legs.

Chickens do not like newcomers. That is possibly the reason why they peck on her. Just keep it separated in the outdoors for a while until all chickens start to get along together. It is good if chickens see each other, but are not able to get at and attack. Try to offer a place where your chicken can run away to and hide. Not a dead end area of course. Just out of sight

Pullet I think. Though polish can be almost as difficult to sex early as silkies.
