i have eggs that are comming too me sometime this week and my bator is just not stable enough.... the humidity is always to high or to low... and the temp is always swinging between 97 and 100.8.... its a homeade bator.... i have nothing else to replace the water thermostat with... my only othe option would be using an old LG... could i posobly put the LG thermostat in the homemade bator... would that make it more stable... i have always heard that LGs have horible temp control.. ARRG!!!

yes, you can replace the thermostat with the wafer assembly. If your LG gave you troubles you might want to pick up a new wafer.

If the wafer was made for an incubator, I would say yes. Water heaters can have huge fluxuations because if you are taking a shower, a 10 deg change one day to the next would probably go unoticed when you adjust the temp of the water.

The most important thing is to put it onto a power strip so you don't get surges in energy.

DANGIT!!!! so i connected the LG wafer to the lightbulb... but the wire that puts out the voltage to the lightbulb from the thermostat doesent suply 120 volts... so the themostat turns on but my light bulb, which is my heating element wont turn on.... i wanna cry!

i dont know what to do!!! should i just stick with the water heater... there is no where around here that i can think of that will suply the other wafers that look like a circle\\square... mine from the LG looks like a computer chip...

arggg! i need help fast!

ok so i took the LG wafer out and im going to put the water heater thermostat back in...man this is hard work.... does anyone have any suggestions as to where i can get one of the wafers that look like a circle? i would prefer not to get it online.... cuz i need it ASAP.. hehe

My homemade bators have a water heater thermostat control and they work just fine.

The range of temps will be wider than with other more sensitive thermostats, but it's the AVERAGE that you are going for.

My range of temps runs 2-3 degrees total - like a high of 100.8 and low of 98.9, etc. BUT if you average it out it's right at 99.5-100 degrees (that's using the water wriggler for the thermometer probe)

I've had great hatches each time with my cooler bators and have 23 chicken and 6 peahen eggs in there right now happily finishing out the incubation period.
