The de pluming mite is so small that the only way to detect it is to take a skin scrape and look at it under a microscope.

Strange they think Ivermectin is useless because Ivermectin is used for all types of mite problems on both animals and people.  I think they are somehow misinformed and I've had good results with it myself (the pour on).  For non blood sucking mites I may add a few drops of Frontline for cats.  Anyway, a pretty big bang for the buck.

If you read the entire article it explains that the dose required to treat for northern fowl mite would be lethal to the chicken.

I actually have a basic kids one, but it works fine. One of those cheap magnifying glasses would do the trick.
