I don't think she's going to make it. :((

Ok, I will nix the grains! I will run into the pet store and pick up what you've suggested, I am just trying to get something into her immediately to keep her going. (That and though my kids are old enough to babysit each other I don't want to leave them and have her pass while I'm gone. They'll feel like it's their fault.)

Thank you again!

NW, if you're up for it, you can very easily force feed via a tube directly into their crop; it sounds awful, and it's super scary to do the first time. But, if you search on here, there are some really good descriptions of how to do it. I had my avian vet show me, and it's not difficult at all, and SO much less time consuming and less stressful on the bird (after you do it once - the first time, they are a bit nervous about it). Just a thought for you!!

If you're interested in learning and can't find the process on here, PM me.

Wynette, I just wanted to thank you (and the others who chimed in), my hen is doing SO much better today!

I got the baby bird formula and vitamins that I've been dropper feeding her every couple of hours. She's no longer having seizures or shaking. She's still very tired and very weak but she has some sass back in her and argues with me when I feed her. I do want to try the crop feeding and have a video bookmarked but I am on dial up and just haven't had a chance to run to the library with my laptop yet.

Yesterday when I posted I was about out of hope but today she's looking so much better and stronger that I'm thinking she might actually pull through! Thank you again everyone!

Thank you. Unfortunately she passed away this morning.

She had been doing so much better but just didn't have it in her I guess. Maybe if I'd known what to do to begin with she'd have recovered but I just didn't.

I'm not beating myself up, she came to me sick and I'm new to chickens. I'm glad she's not suffering anymore and at least I know for next time. My favorite breed are the Wyandottes and I love the blue laced. She was a splash and so pretty. I'll look into finding another one but for now I'm just going to go have a good cry.

At least on BYC no one thinks you're stupid for crying over the loss of a chicken.
