I dont think they are chickens. I'm pretty sure they are PIGS!!!

A few weeks ago when it was so hot out I was leaving the coop door (human door) open all day, I'd have to fill the feeder EVERY day.
IT started to get cool about a week or so ago - so now the HUMAN door is closed during the day, they come and go through their own door - and the feed is lasting DAYS!

I THINK there was something stealing food................

Yes chickens are little piggys ............I have rully 100 chicks now egg layers and so call my pet bantams about 50 /50 and they eat ruffly 150 lbs a month of egg- layer feed plus 50 lbs plus of crack corn mix in amonth plus treats during the month.......fruits -n- veg's from the garden .and once a week I 'll treat them with ........bread and donuts a local bakery where I get day old bread and a D.D donut shop where I get left over donuts and muffins .............................................................................................NOW MY 20 TURKEYS well thats another story there're pigs of all pigs they have eatting ruffly 200 lbs of feed plus 75 lbs of crack corn in with the feed a month and some times I put in whole wheat into the mix in both the chicken feed and turkey feed ........................................

all I have to say is they better taste really really good at supper time

Are the chickens the only critters who have access to the food? Five pounds a day for seven birds seems like a bit much even for talented eaters which yours may certainly be.

If wild birds can get to the chicken feed, they will.

My chooks eat mostly weeds and garden leavings, but they still mob me as though they're starving even when their crops are full.

(I just love that word "chook", it is so CUTE).

Nope just my little piggies can get to their feed - they are in an enclosed pen with coop. I cant free range them - we live on a lake and have many HUGE hawks and a nesting pair of eagles - I can't even leave my small dogs outside for fear of these big birds!!! - I am thinking of getting my dad to build me a chicken tractor.
