I don't understand...one pip and its day 19! UPDATE, PG 2!

Quote:
My first batch of incubated eggs started hatching on the 19th day.

I believe I have read that slightly high temperatures can cause an early hatch. I don't know if half a degree (I think chicken eggs are supposed to incubate at 99.5) is enough to cause an early hatch, but it might (and your thermometer/thermostat may be slightly off).

well the genisis 1588 is supposed to read at 100 degrees no matter what. Hmmm

anyway...2 out but......

I see pips but it does not look good!

No other eggs doing anything.

I had an egg pip yesterday and then nothing for 12 hours. Then I checked again less than an hour later and the chick had emerged from the shell. This batch is zipping in zippy fashion.

Lux I would not worry sometimes they take a while! LOL!
stubborn chicks!

To everyone else thank you for hanging in there with me.....

I only have 4 now that hatched
1 millie
1 BCM
1 EE NN frizzle
1 Americana

I have 4 pips in my show RIR...but they are just sitting there. and the rest ....

Hey if I get a couple RIR I will be one happy camper even though I have a couple dozen more eggs that are doing nothing. LOL!

Thanks everyone with your wondeful comments. I love this forum!

Ok now I am pretty excited....but kinda worried at the same time.

I have now (this is day 21!) 3 show quality RIR!!!!
and one Americana

so the total is 8 chicks. I have not had that many hatch is a while so I am really happy about this incubator.

Problem is though now have 2 healthy pips, but.............
