I know chicks are so adoreable to stay away from, but my friend who has a been raising chicks for most of her life said it would be better to just let them rest in your hand in the cage. So if they do jump they will only fall about 3-5 inches at most. Also it also takes them away from their precious heat when you hold them out of the cage which is not to good for them. Dont be to scared to hold them out side the cage, but only 1-2 times a day atmost. Make sure their wings are down with your hand, and with your other hand hold the body. Silkies are extremely fragile so wait maybe 1 1/2 weeks before holding them outside the cage.
