I dropped the baby!

Quote:
Bonnie was distraught being alone. Too little to go in with the RIR's she wouldn't stop peeping even when I put her in a pen next to their run. So I went out and bought some emergency back up chicks to keep her company. I decided it was better to risk exposing her to unquarantined chicks then to leave her miserable and alone. Now she has three banty chicks to keep her company. She's bigger than them but is just in heaven. She splays out in the food dish and lets them climb all over her and tuck under her wings. I'm so happy I made that decision. Now let's hope noone is sickly and I end up regreting it down the road.

Thank you EVERYONE for all your kind words and thoughts. It may seem silly but that really meant a lot to me.
Before I take these guys outside for yard time, I am going to load them into covered boxes so I don't risk dropping anyone else.

sorry for your loss, I would think that the new chicks should be fine did you get them at a feed store. I worry more about older birds then chicks. Good luck.

The chicks were off of Craigslist. The lady had a nice set up, clean and everything. It was hard leaving with just the three!

Here they are, Bonnie Bedelia and her new friends, Graycie, Puddin', and she who's yet to be named.

My first chicken broke her leg and then her wing and one night when I came back from getting icecream she was dead but I couldnt imagine her being in my hands when she died. On the brighter side that photo is sooooooooooooooo cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
