just out of interest I got 2/3 hatch and 6/6 hatch (this is once all that were not fertile/ developing/dammaged in post etc were taken out, eg all eggs that looked good at "lockdown")
I dry incubate chickens eggs so i didn't want to add humidity and ruin my chicks hatch rates, so just put them in and away they went, first batch i added some water at hatch (I also planned chicks to hatch the day before in incubtor to keep humidity up if I was not there to do it) and the second lot I was in hospital so they got nothing and hatched out just fine.
we live in an area that is by no means dry- but on candelling someone would say that the (chickens)eggs look too dry/empty but they pop out no problem
My first time hatching duck eggs- bring on some more
