I dyed my eggs tonight! - UPDATED!! They're Hatching!! *GRAPHIC PIC*

OK i have a question, if the chicks turn color from the eggs being dyed, what about there insides?
And will the color fade over time?

With that said soooooo cuuuuuute. hehe

the color I beleive is only on the outside of the chick although I suspect it could be absorbed just like the yolk sac is. yes the color does fade after a few weeks when they change to their feathers instead of fluff. now that said, I'd like to see a dyed silkie.
seems like they would stay dyed longer.

The swelling got worse around his neck this morning. he passed away about an hour ago. I think it was due to being stuck in the egg in such a weird position where he couldn't really move. i think he was just too big..

The color does fade, and they grow out of it, but they do poop colorful poo for a few days afterward! lol

The other 3 chicks are still doing fine and still need names. anyone have any ideas?

The ducklings i accidentally colored should be due sometime around this weekend or early next week..

i got them for free from a guy that didnt want them at the feed store..i know the hen was sitting so the due date is really up in the air on them. i dont think the color will show very well on them though, they're Call x BEI ducks.

I am just curious how much dye you put in each egg. That little blue one is wayyyyy bluer than any blue chick in the feed stores at easter. Even the tip of his beak and his little feet are almost electric blue. I sure hope he likes blue.

I used .5cc of dye, some eggs got less though. I'm glad at least a few of them came out very colorful, I still can't wait to see what they look like feathered in..this is my first time hatching from the chickens i have now.

The electric blue one is really cute...but it's kind of a little brat too... It pecks the darkest one when it wont cuddle with him, lol.

The little dark one looks liek it will be barred...daddy musta been the standard BR roo.
