I dyed my eggs tonight! - UPDATED!! They're Hatching!! *GRAPHIC PIC*

I never got a chance to re-check everything last night, so i will let everyone know tonight. The duck eggs should be due around the weekend sometime...i think...

they were freebies and i think the hen may have been sitting on them a bit before i got them, but at least there's still movement!

What a great thread! I love the pics, please keep them comin. I am sorry your room got raided. Another poster on here had that happen and lost the entire batch. I hope all is well.

You may have ducklings yet, with any luck. If you're seeing movement, let 'em ride!

I had a small clutch of guinea eggs, (5 eggs) that first, I thought were no good when the hen started brooding them, but they showed development when I candled them, and second, I thought they were way overdue, and I was about to take them out and discard them. I was going to try slipping my loner incubator chick under the hen, and take out the eggs, this evening. When I went to the coop this afternoon, there were 3 hatched, (unfortunately one was dead, must've gotten squashed or something. Cute little golden brown, sort of whole-wheat-toast colored, keet) two eggs remaining. Maybe they'll hatch tonight.

The loner chick was placed with another hen, who has two chicks about the same age. I tucked him under her with her other two, I'm hoping all will be well in the morning. She's not the brightest hen I've ever seen, maybe she won't know there's an extra one.

i even cracked them open to double check, they werent even breathing, one was WAY bad.
i think the waffle is going out on my hova bator..
i tossed all the eggs in it, they were all bad and got a bunch of new, free ones and now it wont go over 99.5F
i even tried taking it apart and putting it back together, didnt help.

I got a bunch of free blue & green eggs, EE hens X Australorp roo, some pretty orange & brown eggs too, i think sex links. and i just got a bunch of nice silkie and other pure bantam eggs today too, taded for eating eggs. she also gave me some free chicks.. rumpless, tufted aracauna(!!), serama and polish/cochin or something of the sort...she also gave me some half incubated serama eggs to put under my hen.

anyone know how much those run? the waffles that is..

So sorry your duckies didn't make it. My Buckeyes and Salmon Favs didn't, either, not a single one.

On a chart I was looking at yesterday, it said 99.5F in forced air 'bators, for chickens, turkeys and guineas. I didn't look at what it said for ducks, just what I'm hatching now. I have seen variation on that chart, 100F for chickens and guineas, 99F for turkeys.

Do you have forced air or still? What's a waffle? (in a 'bator, I mean, I know waffles for breakfast,

I guess i meant wafer, lol. ive heard it called waffle a lot. mine is a still air...i am hoping they do okay, at least i know im safe from spikes i guess, LOL. I am going to check them in a few days for growth.

Adorable chicks, Ive always wanted to try this.

As for the dye in the feed, a chickens digestive tract and a chickens reproductive tract are totally seperate, ain't gonna happen.
