So I have this chicken, almost a year old called Big Iron. When she was a chick, her left leg was crooked. I misidentified it as spraddle leg and treated it accordingly, thinking she got it from a clear patch they scratched in their brooder. Her leg seemed to get a little better, but not completely. Now I am pretty sure it was a joint issue that I could have corrected using gravity, but now because of how old she is it will be a lifelong issue. Me and my family thought she could walk well enough, but it has become clear that she is losing mobility, and her other leg is starting to get worse and worse. We are going to put a leg brace on her so as to prevent that from happening, but I do not know if it will work. She is not able to do most of the stuff chickens do, such as scratch around for food, which is causing her toenails to become really long, perch or even walk normally. Most of the day she lays around, and she seems to be capable of going back up into the coop but I do not know how long that will last. What do I even do about her besides the leg brace? I really do not want to see her suffer and decline more, and I am worried that her leg issues are causing pain. She can eat and drink herself, and she lays eggs but again I don't know how it will last.

Is a vet an option
Maybe, I have not researched that yet as I read that vets who treat chickens are rare. I live in a city so I'm sure there is a vet that can treat her.

Edit: Yes there is, I am gonna ask my dad about it.
