I feel ashamed...

Ahh... umm... down at the Farm, we have a broody Leghorn. Hatchery stock, no less. She has four beautiful babies that she is mothering right now. And she is downright mean about it, too. Talk about shame.

My EE's have never gone broody. I have Spitzenhaben with 2 babies and 3 more eggs to hatch and a FCBM who has been broody all summer but has yet to hatch eggs(she's like a lttle gaint incubator) but I just hatch some babies in bator and will give her some tonight or tomorrow, My Orps never went broody either, just Black Giant Jerseys oh and Wyandottes. Your girls could also be molting.
Good Luck, Michele

.

The only hens I have ever gone broody are the ones I purchased from breeders. NONE of my hatchery birds ever have, I think that has been breed out of them for egg production purposes. This year I had a BLRW Wyndotte and a Black Wyndotte a Bantam Cochin and a LF Cochin go broody. All were purchased at breeders not hatcheries.

At the moment I am a week from hatch date with 8 BCM eggs and 2 surprises

I'll be happy to send you some - I've got 5 broodies right now, including a tiny serama that is covering 6 Brahma eggs!

At the 4-H Fair I mentioned the broody hen and when I said "Cochin" they all smiled and said "yep....they are like that!"........

And someone has some standards for sale.........hmmmm..............
